Lingholm Estate Wedding, Lake District
I seem to catch the Lake District at its wettest and mistiest no matter which lake I shoot a wedding at, no matter what season or month. Alice and John's Lingholm Estate wedding was another perfect example for that. I don't get to spend enough time in this beautiful area much. Therefore when I do travel there for weddings I get excited with the prospect of stunning views. When I arrive and it's chucking it down, I always stay positive though. First of all, people make weddings, not the weather. Emotions create incredible photographs. Secondly, let's not forget we're talking about British weather here. Nothing is ever certain and eventually, at some point of the day those grey clouds will break and let in just enough sunshine that will brighten up the images.
Alice and John both were in such good spirits on the morning of their Lake District wedding. It was spreading fast. The focus shifted from miserable weather to a fun and emotionally fulfilling day ahead.
This gorgeous Victorian house the Lingholm Estate in this idyllic setting by Derwentwater is a perfect wedding venue. I love the house, the surroundings, the incredible views and the fact that it's still a hidden treasure of the Lake District.
Alice and John made sure there was not a dull moment at their wedding. After arriving back at Lingholm from their church ceremony, there were delicious canapes, live music and even the alpacas wearing their cute bow-ties hung around for a while entertaining the guests.
The Stone Room hosted the wedding breakfast with its grandiose paintings, decor and views of the lake. The sun decided to show up at the perfect hour and just before sunset, we had the chance to catch the lake and its surroundings at its best. Big waves, golden colours and some intimate moments.
By the time I left that night, the Lancashire band The Deadbeats were making sure the dance floor was filled and this amazing wedding ended on a high.
